While recently shooting a leisure cycle-tour, which included a leg in the West Coast National Park, near Langebaan, on the coast of South Africa, I came across this tortoise. (Side note: to all my American readers, yes, this is a tortoise, NOT a “turtle”! Turtles live in water.)
Despite its hard shell, I could tell that it was being extremely cautious in its mission to get across the road. If you ever visit the park, please keep your driving speeds slow, so that you not only avoid running anything over, but so that you get a chance to see some of the wonderful views and species that the reserve offers.

A wonderful sight 🙂 I never know whether to “help” a tortoise by moving it off the road – obviously in the direction it is going.
