The remote peninsula of Pelican Point at Walvis Bay, Namibia, is a large sand bar that stretches far out from the mainland, flanking the massive Walvis Bay Lagoon. It is accessible either by boat, 4×4, or helicopter …or a long trudge on foot through the sand.

Frequent thick mists are common, but do nothing to detract from the arid beauty of the place.
